Snow Expected for Parts of North Texas Tomorrow

12/12/2020

Comments

Here is your latest update on the chances of Wintry-Mix in North Texas. Even though it is unlikely Denton County will see snow, it isn't impossible for areas just to our North/West to see some flurries. No accumulation in North Texas is expected. Ice is not expected. Flurries or light snow are possible for bordering counties of Oklahoma/Texas.

Keep in mind, all 3 graphics represent different times. Timing is in the top right of each graphic

Picture
6AM: As the cold front approaches, rain will be the main precipitation across all of North Texas. A heavy rain band is possible along I-35. About a 60% chance across DFW for rain during that time.

Picture
12PM: Jumping along, wintry precipitation will start making its way into far Northwestern DFW. Heavy snow is expected in Oklahoma (with snowfall totals from 6-10 inches). Any wintry mix is likely to be scattered and not widespread. 30% chance of precipitation for most of DFW. Windy conditions are expected.

Picture
3PM: By 3PM, all widespread precipitation will enter Louisiana and Eastern TX, leaving some isolated wintry mix and flurries behind. This is when there is chance for wintry precip in DFW. No guarantees, as precipitation chances will only be around 15-20%. Temperatures on the ground will be around 34-38, but a few hundred feet up, they will be 30-32, leaving that chance for some small snowflakes to reach the ground, before melting very quickly upon landfall. Windy conditions are expected.
