Storms are very likely for North Texas Residents overnight tonight. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has put a large chunk of North Texas under a Slight Risk for severe weather for tonight. An enhanced risk is level 2 of 5 on the SPC's scale. The main threats that are expected tomorrow will be damaging wind gusts up to 80 MPH, large hail, and a few brief and weak tornadoes will be possible.  According to our Severe Weather Center & Storm Prediction Center, a Slight Risk of severe weather exists in nearly all of the NTXWC coverage area. This area has the greatest chance for damaging winds and maybe a few tornadoes. A storm or two may have quarter to half dollar sized hail, but that threat will primarily be across our western counties. The greatest tornado threat is forecasted to be North of Denton. Here is NTXWC's Probabilities for tonight's storms: (This is for anywhere in the severe weather potential region, not just North Texas) Probability of 1+ Tornado: 60% Probability of 2+ Tornadoes: 30% Probability of 3+ Tornadoes: 10% Probability of 3+ Large Hail Reports: 50% Probability of 7+ Large Hail Reports: 10% Probability of 3+ Damaging Wind Reports: 90% Probability of 7+ Damaging Wind Reports: 50% Probability of 1+ Damaging Wind 70+ MPH Occurrence: 60% TIMING: Storms will fire up between Wichita Falls and Abilene between 8-10pm. These storms will move towards the metroplex after midnight. Storms will arrive into the DFW metroplex between 2-4am, primarily posing a wind threat. Make sure to have a safety plan in place tomorrow in case you are under a tornado warning. Be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Cover your vehicles to keep hail damage to a minimum. Bring in trash and recycling bins, plants, and any loose furniture inside to prevent those items from being damaged by damaging winds.
