2021 Snow Chances in DFW: Who could see snow this Winter?

2020 was a very interesting year to say the least. 2020 started off with 1-3 inches of snow for Northwestern areas of DFW, but that was it. Who could see snow in DFW in 2020? Well, let's say this year is actually slightly more likely than 2020.

Most would think we would have a much lower chance of snow this year due to Southern USA being in a La Nina, which means on average warmer temperatures and less precipitation. However, we have seen several long-term models present snow chances for North Texas & Oklahoma, in fact, more than last year. Last year, there were about 3 different times where snow was in the forecast. So far in late 2020, we have already had 4 chances, and 2 more are in the forecast to start 2021.

The European and Canadian models have both shown a chance for some snow/freezing rain just after New Years Day. We won't get too much into it yet since it is still hard to predict 5+ days out on snowfall, but it is a possibility. The CFS has given us 3 separate chances, which only 2 would seem realistic (through ALL of January)

Here are YOUR chances in each city:
